“Indu Prakash, you have done exceedingly well in English.” To the author, at the time of his interview for a coveted job of a translator in the High Court, these were the opening words of Hon’ble the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Mr. R S Narula. His Lordship is highly esteemed as one of the exceptionally erudite,  meritorious, remarkable, upright, and illustrious Chief Justices ever.
The author was cheerfully appointed as a Translator by His Lordship himself then and there. During his ten-year-long tenure as a translator, the author learned the significance of correct and refined English as a link language. He also learned that sound grounding in English grammar and expansive vocabulary were two precursors or gateways to success in every exam.

Later on, the author started an academy called “The English Lyceum” and started teaching Basic English (The Structure of a Sentence) to needy students. He has written many books for such renowned publishing houses as G K Publication, Noida, U. P., Jokta Publications, Chandigarh, and Blue Rose One Publishers, Delhi and London.

In this book, the author and the editor have made  earnest and relentless efforts, however imperfect, to highlight and to pinpoint the role of good vocabulary for qualifying for any exam; Defence Services Exams in particular. Best of luck to all of you!

The editor "Gunjan Rawat" is an exceptionally distinguished and iconic student of the prestigious PEC (Punjab Engineering College), Chandigarh. Apart from her devotion to Engineering and Information & Technology, she has an innate interest in English and English literature. She scored merit in English in the CBSE exams. Her crowning glory was 8 Bands in the I E L T S Exam in Feb. 2022 before she participated in the NASA Programme in the U.S.A.
