इस आत्मकथा को पढ़ने के बाद मुझे महसूस हुआ कि साहित्य की उत्तम रचना किसी एक भाषा तक सीमित नहीं रहनी चाहिये। जो इंसान मौत के मुँह से निकल दूसरों के लिये प्रेरणा स्रोत बनें उसकी जीवनी हर उस व्यक्ति तक पहुँचनी चाहिये जो ज़िन्दगी जीने की जंग लड़ रहा है। बहुत से पंजाबी पाठकों के विचार जानने को मिले जिन्हें इस पुस्तक से जीवन की नई राह मिली। लेखक स.मंगा सिंह अंटाल जी पाठकों की मांग को देखते हुए अपनी आत्मकथा को हिंदी में लिखना चाहते थे। हज़ारों पाठकों की तरह मैं भी पुस्तक से अत्यंत प्रभावित थी।परन्तु अनुवाद में पंजाबी वाला रस एवमं शैली को बरकरार रखना उनकी इच्छा और मेरे लिए चुनौती थी। हिंदी अनुवाद में स.मंगा सिंह के साथ काम करना मेरा सौभाग्य है।
