Product Information
A Life at the Edge by Hardayal Singh Verma is a vivid, hard-hitting tribute to the men and women who live on the frontlines of national security. Drawn from decades of service and first-hand experience, this book brings to life the adrenaline, fear, humanity and quiet heroism behind modern “special operations” and day-to-day duties in uniform. Verma, a decorated Commandant (SG) of the Border Security Force, writes with authority, empathy and a storyteller’s eye — recounting hazardous operations, the grit of soldiers in extreme conditions, the resilience of families left behind, and the moral cost of duty.
Each chapter is a compact, arresting narrative—real incidents, real people—crafted to lift the veil on what it really means to live and serve “at the edge.” The book balances tactical detail with human portraits: widows who rebuild lives, siblings who carry a family’s military pride, and veterans who carry memories no one else can share. Written to inform, inspire and provoke national gratitude, A Life at the Edge is essential reading for patriots, policy makers, military enthusiasts, students of security studies, and anyone who wants a humane, unvarnished view of service and sacrifice.
