मंत्रज्ञान म्हटले कि आपण एकदम पुराणयुगात जातो ज्या काळात मंत्र लोकांना इच्छाशक्तिनुसार फळत असत आणि तंत्रज्ञान आपणास आजच्या आधुनिक युगात घेऊन जाते जिथे सर्व व्यवहार तंत्राने (Technology ) चालतात.आधुनिक युगात मंत्रज्ञान हे खोटे पडले आहे कारण या युगात मंत्राचा प्रभाव राहिलेला नाही.मुळातच मंत्र हे मनुष्याची एक आत्मकेंद्रित शक्ती आहे जी एकाग्र मनाने विशिष्ट परिस्थितीत,वातावरणात, शुद्धरूपी मनाने,विशिष्ट मंत्र सामुग्री व निरनिराळे घटक (parameters) वापरून प्राप्त करता येते. यावर संपूर्ण विवेचन पुढे केलेलेच आहे. आता थोडा युगाचा विचार करू पण तत्पुर्वी धर्म आणि संस्कृती यातील फरक थोडक्यात समजावून घेऊ.जगात मुख्यताः तिन धर्म आहेत जे हिंदू,मुस्लिम आणि ख्रिश्चन.या व्यतिरिक्त इतर अनेक धर्म/पंथ जसे बौद्ध,जैन,शिया,सुन्नी,कॅथॉलिक,प्रोटेस्टंट आणि इतर अनेक.येथे धर्म हा ईश्वराच्या अस्तित्वाशी निगडित आहे म्हणजे त्याचे अस्तित्व आहे अथवा नाही.परंतू संस्कृती हि साधारणतः लोकांची समाजातील राहणी,आचारविचार यांच्याशी निगडित आहे. तसे पहिले तर धर्म आणि संस्कृती हे एकाच नाण्याच्या दोन बाजू आहेत असे समजायला हरकत नाही. वरील तिन धर्मांपैकी मुस्लिम आणि ख्रिश्चन धर्माला उगम (सुरवात) आहे परंतु हिंदू धर्माला उगम (सुरवात) नाही. तो काळाच्या सुरुवातीपासुन अस्तित्वात होता आणि म्हणुनच सर्वात जुना असा धर्म मानण्यात येतो.याच धर्मात चार युगे सांगितली आहेत ती म्हणजे सत्ययुग,द्वापारयुग,त्रेतायुग आणि कलीयुग.प्रत्येक युगात मनुष्याची वागणूक देखील वर्णन केली आहे व ती युगाप्रमाणे बदलली आहे जसे सत्ययुगात माणसे प्रामाणिक होती जी कलियुगात नाहीत वगैरे आणि म्हणुनच हिंदू धर्माचा संदर्भ या पुस्तकात घेतला आहे. येथे ज्ञान आणि विज्ञान यातील फरक स्पष्ट करतो कि ज्ञान म्हणजे जे मनुष्य निसर्गाकडून व गुरूंकडून आकस्मात होते तर विज्ञान म्हणजे मिळविलेल्या ज्ञानाचा उपयोग करून इतर लोकांसाठी वापरणे.ज्ञान हे स्वतः पुरते सीमित असते व ते अनुभवालागते तर विज्ञान हे प्रयोगाने दाखविता येते. जुने मंत्र आधुनिक तंत्र,या युगात मंत्र न फळण्याची शक्यता याचा एक शास्त्रोक्त विचार मांडला आहे. वाचकांना हे पुस्तक आवडेल अशी आशा करतो.
