An Interdisciplinary Approach to Open and Distance Learning: Key Concepts and Terms of Significance explores the intellectual foundations and conceptual frameworks that shape the dynamic field of Open and Distance Learning (ODL).
In an era where education must reach learners beyond traditional classrooms, ODL has emerged as one of the most transformative educational systems in the world. Its flexibility, accessibility, and ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning have opened the doors of higher education to millions of students globally.
This insightful volume highlights how Open and Distance Learning is not limited to one academic discipline. Instead, it draws inspiration from a wide range of fields including Education, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, International Relations, Management, Law, and Engineering. These interdisciplinary perspectives contribute to the development of new theories, practices, and innovations in distance education.
The book provides a conceptual introduction to important terminologies and ideas that influence the design, management, and implementation of ODL systems. By examining these interdisciplinary concepts, the authors present a deeper understanding of how distance education continues to evolve in response to the changing needs of learners and societies.
